The Maharashtra Government has announced support for mental health services for over 500 tourists who recently returned to Mumbai after a tragic accident in Pahalgam, Kashmir. In response to the incident, civic-run hospitals in Mumbai will offer mental health support to the injured individuals and their families.
Mental health services will be available at four major hospitals under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, where services such as counselling, stress assessments, PTSD screenings, and medication will be provided. These services will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at:
- Topiwala National Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Hospital
- Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and KEM Hospital
- Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital)
- Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College and R.N. Cooper Hospital
Additionally, emergency mental health services, including counselling for stress, insomnia, and flashbacks, will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. at these hospitals.
The initiative aims to support those affected by the traumatic incident and assist in their emotional recovery.
