Universal Music Group (UMG) has teamed up with Music Health Alliance to create a comprehensive mental health fund aimed at supporting professionals within the music industry. The initiative, launched on February 13th, 2025, expands upon their successful four-year partnership, which previously provided dental, vision, and family care support. Now, the partnership introduces a dedicated fund for mental health services.
A Holistic Approach to Mental Health Support:
Tatum Hauck Allsep, CEO and founder of Music Health Alliance, emphasized the program’s holistic approach. The new fund will offer music professionals access to a range of specialized services, including psychiatric care, individualized treatment programs, and financial assistance for sustained mental health care. A key feature of the initiative is its focus on systematic data collection to continually improve the quality of services offered.
Expanding the Support Network:
Unlike previous programs, this fund is open to both current and former music industry professionals, ensuring that mental health support is available not only to those still active in the industry but also to those who have transitioned out. Susan Mazo, UMG’s Chief Impact Officer, pointed out the importance of making mental health services accessible across the entire industry. This inclusive approach aims to foster long-term mental health support within the music community, addressing both immediate and ongoing needs.
Serving the Industry and Their Families:
The initiative provides mental health and wellness support not just to music professionals but also to their families. By expanding the scope of the fund, UMG and Music Health Alliance aim to create a sustainable support network that benefits the broader music industry ecosystem.
This groundbreaking partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing the mental health challenges faced by music professionals, offering a model of care that is both comprehensive and accessible. Through this fund, both organizations hope to ensure that mental health resources are readily available to those in the industry who need them most, making a meaningful impact on the lives of music professionals and their families.
