The Dallas-based mental health nonprofit, Foundation 45, has rebranded as Amplified Minds, marking a new chapter in its decade-long mission to support individuals facing mental health challenges. The rebranding is a response to the organization’s expanded services and a deeper commitment to addressing the unique needs of local musicians, artists, and the broader community.
Amplified Minds offers free individual therapy, LGBTQIA+ support, and group counseling in both virtual and in-person formats, making mental health resources more accessible to those who may have otherwise been unable to afford care.
A New Name, A Renewed Mission
Originally founded as Foundation 45, the organization was created in the wake of the tragic suicides of Frankie Campagna and Adam Carter, members of the Dallas-based band Spector 45. Their deaths underscored the need for mental health support, particularly in the music and arts community, where individuals often struggle in silence without the necessary resources to seek help.
Now rebranded as Amplified Minds, the nonprofit continues its mission to offer mental health services, but with a broader focus. The new name reflects the organization’s goal to “amplify voices” and provide a platform for those facing mental health struggles, particularly in creative industries where mental health challenges are often underreported and ignored.
Expanding Access to Care
The organization is expanding its reach, offering therapy to anyone over the age of 18 and focusing on support for LGBTQIA+ individuals who may face unique mental health challenges. The decision to offer virtual therapy services is a significant step in ensuring that geographical and logistical barriers no longer prevent individuals from receiving care.
Lauren O’Connor, the organization’s president, expressed her excitement about this new chapter, saying, “We are thrilled to embrace this new chapter.” She emphasized that the rebrand reflects the organization’s “commitment to amplifying voices” and continuing to provide mental health support for the community.
Addressing the Mental Health Crisis in the Arts
As musicians like Adele, Billie Eilish, and Bruce Springsteen have publicly opened up about their own mental health struggles in recent years, the topic of mental health in the music industry has gained significant attention. However, countless local musicians and artists continue to face mental health challenges in silence, often unable to afford the therapy or support they desperately need.
Amplified Minds is positioned to fill this gap, providing critical services for those who may otherwise have nowhere else to turn. The organization is playing a crucial role in eradicating stigma around mental health in the arts community, offering a safe space for individuals to seek help without fear of judgment.
With its new name and expanded services, Amplified Minds is helping to create a more supportive, inclusive environment where mental health challenges can be addressed and voices can be heard.
