Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) has partnered with digital mental health provider Mantra Health to provide students with comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality mental health services through a new initiative launched by the Minnesota State System.
Mantra Health will be available to SMSU students via the virtual Care Hub, an all-in-one platform offering a range of free mental health services. This includes up to 12 telehealth appointments each academic year, ensuring students have access to crucial support when needed.
Services Offered Through the Care Hub:
Self-Care: Students can access a variety of short, self-guided wellness courses designed to help reduce stress, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and navigate difficult situations, all at their convenience.
Emotional Wellness Coaching: This goal-oriented service connects students with an experienced coach for 8-12 weeks of support. It’s designed to teach self-management strategies and provide guidance to students looking for structured mental wellness improvement.
Peer-to-Peer Support with Togetherall: Students can join a supportive, inclusive, and confidential community of peers powered by Togetherall. This platform allows students to connect with others facing similar challenges in a judgment-free space.
Therapy: Students can access one-on-one therapy sessions with highly trained, culturally-informed mental health providers. Each student is entitled to 12 therapy sessions annually, tailored to address their unique needs and experiences.
ConnectNow: For students in need of immediate support, ConnectNow offers in-the-moment assistance with a mental health professional via video call between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. CT. This service is available for students experiencing distress or mental health challenges.
24/7 Crisis Support: Around-the-clock crisis support is available through phone consultations, helping students navigate difficult and urgent mental health situations. However, in case of a serious emergency where someone is at risk of harm, students are urged to call 911 immediately.
Getting Started with Mantra Health
Students can begin their care journey by visiting Mantra Health’s Care Hub or downloading the app on Apple or Android devices. To sign up, students need to use their SMSU email address to create an account. The platform is free and provides care navigation support, guiding students through the services available to them.
In addition to Mantra Health, SMSU students can still access services from the SMSU Mental Health Counseling Center, ensuring a comprehensive range of mental health resources on campus.
Founded in 2018, Mantra Health was created with the mission of providing tele-counseling services to college students. As stated on their website, Mantra is committed to offering “accessible, equitable, and quality mental health and wellness solutions” for young adults, making it an invaluable resource for SMSU students.
This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing the mental well-being of students, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
