PETERBOROUGH, CAMBRIDGESHIRE — A local Amazon fulfilment centre in Peterborough has donated £1,000 to Evolve, a Cambridgeshire-based mental health charity that provides affordable counselling services to adults. The donation will help the charity continue its vital work in supporting individuals facing mental health challenges.
Gordon Ackroyd, chief executive of Evolve, expressed his gratitude for the generous contribution. “We’d like to thank Tomislav and the Amazon team in Peterborough for supporting Evolve,” he said. “For those times when support is needed, we’re here to help, and we appreciate Amazon’s donation, which enables us to continue our important work.”
Tomislav Batinic, site leader at the Peterborough Amazon fulfilment centre, also voiced his support for the charity. “We’re proud to support Evolve Counselling with this donation,” Batinic said. “The charity does excellent work in our community, providing support to people when they are struggling, and we hope this donation helps them continue their great work.”
Amazon’s donation to Evolve Counselling is part of the company’s broader commitment to supporting local communities. In addition to community donations, Amazon encourages employee volunteering and has implemented several initiatives to assist communities in need.
The company has partnered with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to co-found the Multibank scheme, which supports families in need across Scotland, Wales, Greater Manchester, London, and the Tees Valley. Through the initiative, Amazon has donated over five million surplus goods to those facing hardship.
Amazon’s efforts to give back also include its Amazon Future Engineer programme, which has supported over one million students across the UK with free STEM education. The company further aids community organisations through its Amazon Local Good programme, which helps transport meals and essentials to families in need.
Additionally, Amazon has partnered with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Through these initiatives, Amazon, together with its employees, customers, and partners, has raised more than £4.8 million to fund projects supporting people across the UK and globally.
