The Village of Waverly celebrated the opening of its new mental health clinic with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, marking a significant step in expanding access to mental health care for local residents.
The new clinic aims to address a pressing need in the area, where many individuals have faced challenges accessing services due to distance and transportation barriers. “There’s a great need for a facility at this end of the county; transportation is just a huge barrier for people who live here,” said Tioga County Director of Community Services, Lori Morgan.
The clinic, located on Ithaca Street at the village offices, offers a range of treatment options, including both in-person and virtual services, to ensure that residents can receive care in a way that best suits their needs.
Morgan emphasized that the facility’s diverse treatment offerings will provide much-needed support to the community, which has previously lacked a local mental health resource. The clinic’s opening is expected to significantly reduce the travel burden for residents, making mental health services more accessible to those in the Waverly area.
