WEXFORD — AIB Wexford has raised nearly €3,500 for the mental health charity It’s Good 2 Talk (IG2T) through a six-hour bikeathon event that united community members for a common cause.
Organized by AIB staff, the event welcomed participants from local GAA clubs, politicians, and residents, all pedaling to support the charity’s vital work. The proceeds from the bikeathon will help fund counselling services provided by IG2T, which plays a crucial role in supporting mental health across the community.
Community Effort for a Worthy Cause
Keith Groake, Manager of AIB Wexford, expressed his gratitude for the event’s success. “I am delighted with the success of this event and would like to thank everybody for participating and cycling miles for this very worthy charity,” Groake said. He also extended thanks to the event’s sponsors, who supplied bikes, a marquee, signage, and public relations support, as well as his staff for their dedication.
“To my own staff, a great effort was made to keep the show on the road, and I know I can speak for everybody when I say that the day was very enjoyable,” he added.
Supporting Mental Health Through Community Generosity
Madeleine Quirke, Chairperson of the Board for It’s Good 2 Talk, expressed her appreciation for the support provided by AIB and the public.
“Donations such as these enable IG2T to continue providing counselling services in very challenging circumstances,” Quirke said. “IG2T depends on the generosity of the community through various events and fundraisers, and every penny raised helps us assist those who seek support to improve their mental health.”
A Positive Impact
The bikeathon showcased the strength of community spirit in Wexford and the willingness of local organizations and individuals to support mental health initiatives. As events like these gain momentum, they play a critical role in sustaining essential services and fostering awareness about the importance of mental well-being.
The €3,500 raised by AIB Wexford is a testament to the power of collaboration and a reminder that collective efforts can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
