Burke County, N.C. — In response to increased mental health needs following Tropical Storm Helene, Burke County officials have partnered with the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services and the mental health organization Somethings to provide free mental health services for teens. This initiative aims to support young people dealing with the stress and trauma brought on by the recent storm.
The program offers a range of resources, including in-person counseling, virtual support options, and crisis resources for immediate assistance. The Western North Carolina Helene Mental Health Resource List, developed by the North Carolina Association of Local Health Directors, is now accessible on the Burke County government website.
