LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) — In observance of World Mental Health Day, a health fair was organized to raise awareness and support for individuals affected by domestic violence.
On Thursday, October 10, victims and community members gathered to learn about the profound effects that domestic violence can have on mental health. Research indicates that those who experience family violence are at an increased risk of developing conditions such as depression, sleep disturbances, and post-traumatic stress disorder, in addition to other chronic health issues.
The event featured various activities aimed at educating attendees about the available resources and services for mental health support. Participants were provided with valuable information to help navigate their healing journeys and connect with local support networks.
