Each month, over 1 billion users on TikTok unite to share authentic stories, forge meaningful connections, and cultivate a sense of community. Conversations surrounding #MentalHealth and #MentalHealthAwareness have inspired nearly 25 million videos to date. As part of our commitment to fostering an environment where individuals can safely share their well-being journeys, we are excited to announce new initiatives this World Mental Health Day to facilitate access to authoritative content and reliable resources.
Supporting Creators through Partnership with Headspace
In alignment with our ongoing commitment to our global creator community, TikTok has partnered with Headspace to launch a new initiative aimed at equipping creators with essential mental health resources. As part of this collaboration, up to 20,000 creators worldwide will receive six months of complimentary access to the Headspace app. The app offers a range of expert-led tools and mental health content designed to reduce stress, enhance positivity, and cultivate resilience in navigating life’s challenges.
“Headspace is dedicated to making mental health support more accessible and effective. By collaborating with TikTok on World Mental Health Day, we aim to empower creators to take charge of their mental well-being and utilize Headspace as a resource during life’s ups and downs,” stated Emma Nemtin, Head of Consumer Partnerships and Distribution at Headspace.
Valiant Richey, TikTok’s Global Head of Trust and Safety Outreach and Partnerships, remarked, “With millions coming to TikTok to share their well-being journeys, it is crucial that people have access to reliable information and resources regarding mental health. As we celebrate World Mental Health Day, we have reinforced our support for creators by providing them free access to expert-led tools and resources from Headspace.”
Fostering a Safe and Supportive Online Community
The well-being of our community—both online and offline—remains a top priority. We collaborate with experts, partners, and mission-driven organizations globally to disseminate authoritative information, provide access to well-being resources like our Well-being Guide, and nurture a supportive online environment.
To enhance our prevention efforts regarding harmful content online, we have become a founding member of The Mental Health Coalition’s Thrive program. This initiative enables us to securely share information about content that violates our suicide and self-harm policies with industry partners such as Meta and Snapchat. By collaborating within the industry, we aim to ensure the safety of our users on TikTok and beyond.
Advocating for Mental Well-Being
Our global community continues to champion mental well-being awareness through authentic storytelling, whether it be sharing heartfelt personal #WellBeing journeys or offering #SelfCare and #StressRelief tips.
We invite our community to join us in celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024 by sharing inspiring stories and personal well-being journeys using hashtags such as #WorldMentalHealthDay, #MentalHealthAwareness, #MentalHealth, and #WMHD. Additional well-being resources can be accessed through our Well-being Guide.
