Dayton, Ohio — On October 9, the University of Dayton (UD) will partner with CareSource to host the second annual Spotlight Town Hall event, coinciding with an exhibition game featuring UD’s men’s basketball team against Xavier University. This year’s event, dedicated to young adult mental health and suicide prevention, will honor Jayda Grant and aims to educate attendees while promoting mental health awareness.
The free event will take place at UD Arena from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for a mental health resource fair and a meet-and-greet with the Dayton men’s basketball team. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to explore various mental health organizations, visit informational exhibits, and learn about substance abuse initiatives.
The keynote speaker will be Gloria Umanah, a passionate advocate who shares her personal journey of nearly losing her life to suicide. Umanah emphasizes that there is a greater purpose for those who feel they are struggling and seeks to uplift those who may feel invisible.
Following Umanah’s presentation, a panel of guest speakers will take the stage, including Anthony Grant and his wife, Chris.
Local mental health organizations from the Dayton area will also be present, providing valuable information about available programs and resources for those interested in mental health support in the community.
