Staff, volunteers, and patients from Cross Lane Hospital in Scarborough have recorded their second fundraising song, continuing their musical journey to support mental health initiatives.
The group, known as Our Time Creatives, previously gained recognition for their debut song, “Our Time,” which was produced through a series of workshops focused on lyrics, music, and poetry. The success of their first song enabled them to purchase noise-cancelling headphones and musical instruments for their ward.
Following the release of their debut track, Jayne Shipley from Space to Be at Scarborough Museum and Art Gallery invited Our Time Creatives to participate in the Sound Project, leading to the creation of their new song, “We Remember.” This latest track reflects the experiences and challenges associated with mental health and the journey of overcoming these obstacles.
The songwriting project involved staff and patients from Cross Lane Hospital, operated by Tees, Esk, and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, as well as community members. The sessions were led by local musician and activity coordinator Candi Godbold.
The new song, “We Remember,” continues the group’s mission to raise awareness and funds for mental health support through their creative expressions.
