PROVIDENCE — Citizens Financial Group Inc. has announced a new partnership with Mental Health America, unveiling its 2025 Champions in Action grant program designed to support nonprofits focused on mental health and well-being.
According to Mental Health America’s “2023 State of Mental Health in America” report, over 50 million American adults experience mental illness, and 1 in 10 children face depression. Additionally, Citizens’ “2024 Teen Financial Wellness Survey” with Junior Achievement highlights that 78% of teens are stressed about money.
The grant program will distribute $450,000 in total, with $50,000 in unrestricted funding, along with volunteer and promotional support, awarded to nine selected nonprofits.
Eligible organizations must:
Be a nonprofit providing direct access to mental health services, education, and advocacy.
Work to eliminate barriers to adequate care or address root causes of mental illness.
Have an operating budget between $250,000 and $5 million.
Be located in one of the following regions: Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Southern Florida, or San Francisco.
In addition to the grants, Citizens will host a three-part webinar series in collaboration with Mental Health America. This series will offer free educational content focused on the intersection of economic security and mental health. Topics will include the impact of financial stress, the importance of credit health, building a healthy relationship with money, and creating a path to financial wellness.
