A nine-year-old boy is making waves with his charitable efforts by auctioning three of his paintings to support a mental health charity. Scott, the young artist, has dedicated his work to Jersey Mind, an organization offering support services to young people on the island.
The online auction, which is set to conclude on September 30, has already garnered over £300 in donations. Scott expressed his hope that his artwork would bring happiness and confidence to other children.
In an interview, Scott shared that art provides him with a calming effect and serves as a positive outlet for self-expression. He emphasized the importance of young people finding their own methods of expression. “It’s not about seeking attention for myself, but knowing that this will benefit other children makes me really happy,” he said.
Scott’s mother, Dora Freer, voiced her immense pride in her son’s initiative. “He has always been incredibly empathetic, even from a young age,” she noted. “I tell him every day to continue his efforts and keep helping others, as his actions will positively impact many lives.”
The funds raised from this auction will support Mind Jersey, an independent local charity committed to providing assistance to individuals dealing with mental health challenges.
