Madison, Ind. – The Life Choices Clinic in Madison has been awarded a $53,000 grant from the Bethany Legacy Foundation to improve its services for clients affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The funding will support the creation of a new staff position focused on implementing ACEs scoring assessments and providing targeted services and referrals based on these assessments. This grant is expected to cover the position’s expenses for the next three years.
Dora Anim, CEO of Life Choices Clinic, expressed gratitude for the grant and emphasized its significance. “We know that many adults in Jefferson County have more Adverse Childhood Experiences than the national average, which can adversely affect their health and well-being. We are thrilled to support Life Choices as they use ACEs scoring to connect clients with resources, address the root causes of trauma, and build resilience,” Anim stated in a news release.
The grant will enable Life Choices Clinic to integrate ACEs screening into its services, allowing for more personalized interventions. Additionally, clinic staff will receive training to better understand and address the impacts of trauma on clients. The clinic aims to provide comprehensive support that acknowledges and responds to the unique challenges faced by individuals with high ACEs scores.
The Bethany Legacy Foundation, a not-for-profit health foundation formed through the sale of King’s Daughters Health to Norton Healthcare, is dedicated to supporting health initiatives that improve community well-being. The foundation’s grant to Life Choices Clinic reflects its commitment to addressing trauma and enhancing mental health care in the community.
This initiative will enable Life Choices Clinic to better support individuals dealing with the effects of early trauma, promoting healing and resilience through informed, compassionate care.
