Pawnee Mental Health has been awarded a $3,000 grant aimed at addressing two crucial needs within the organization. The funding will be instrumental in procuring essential equipment and providing staff training, ultimately benefiting both clients and the wider community.
The grant will be used to acquire a low-step, medical-grade scale equipped with handlebars and a high weight capacity. This new equipment is essential for ensuring accurate and safe assessments, reflecting Pawnee’s dedication to providing high-quality care and maintaining client safety.
Additionally, the grant will support the implementation of Bal-A-Vis-X training for staff who work with youth and adults experiencing serious emotional disturbances (SED) and serious mental illness (SMI). Bal-A-Vis-X is a technique involving rhythmic, patterned exercises on a balance board with various balls, designed to enhance brain function by promoting calmness and sustained focus. This training aims to improve the therapeutic environment by fostering better concentration and emotional regulation among both clients and staff.
Shelli Schottler, Community Services Director at Pawnee Mental Health, expressed gratitude for the grant, stating, “We are incredibly grateful for this funding, which will enable us to make significant enhancements to our services.”
The grant will thus play a key role in advancing Pawnee Mental Health’s mission to provide exceptional care and support to its clients.
