LOS ANGELES, CA — Jax Taylor, known for his role on “Vanderpump Rules,” has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment for his mental health struggles, Page Six confirms. This decision comes in the wake of his split from Brittany Cartwright.
Taylor’s representative shared, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast. He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter.”
TMZ was the first to break the news.
A Journey to Mental Health
Taylor, 45, has been open about his ongoing battle with mental health issues. On his podcast with Cartwright, “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany,” he revealed a significant breakthrough after finding an “amazing” doctor.
“I met a doctor at my bar and she’s absolutely amazing. And I went in there and I literally just broke down,” Taylor explained on June 7. “I’m like, ‘This is what’s wrong with me and this is what I’m doing, and this is who I’m attacking, and I have serious, serious anger issues, and I have a child and I don’t want him to see me act like that.’”
Cartwright, participating in the podcast, noted that they were exploring all possible solutions before considering divorce. “We’re trying to live separately, we’re trying to possibly date other people, [and] we’re trying to, you know, figure out what works for us,” Taylor added.
Taylor also shared with Entertainment Tonight that he was “definitely working” on himself, though he did not provide further details. To E! News, he expressed optimism about reconciling with Cartwright, 35, stating, “I was going through a lot of personal issues with myself and my mental health that needed a time out.”
The Split and Its Aftermath
In February, Cartwright announced their separation after nearly five years of marriage. The couple, who fought frequently during Season 1 of “The Valley,” found their relationship deteriorating further off-camera.
Cartwright disclosed that Taylor would “rage text” her and scream for hours, leading her to move into an Airbnb with their son, Cruz. Her primary focus, she emphasized, is “being the best mom” to their 3-year-old son.
Taylor and Cartwright tied the knot in 2019 in Cartwright’s home state of Kentucky and welcomed Cruz in 2021.
As Taylor embarks on his journey to better mental health, both he and Cartwright are navigating their new paths separately, prioritizing their well-being and that of their son.
