WEST VIRGINIA (WTRF) – The West Virginia 988 and CIT Summit is set to take place at the end of this month, bringing together a diverse array of organizations from across the state to discuss the critical importance of mental health resources and effective strategies for assisting individuals in crisis.
The summit will feature participation from various groups, including crisis intervention teams—specialists who assist 911 dispatchers and first responders in handling mental health emergencies. These teams will share their experiences and insights on managing crises involving mental health issues.
“Emergency medical services, law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, individuals with lived experiences of mental illness, advocates, and representatives from across the state will come together to share their practices, learn from each other, and explore collaborative approaches,” stated an event organizer.
The conference is scheduled to be held in Charleston from July 29th to July 31st.
