Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has highlighted ‘Live Better’ as a critical component in addressing health disparities, emphasizing its role in driving health reform in Northern Ireland.
The ‘Live Better’ initiative, aimed at tackling health inequalities, is set to launch within six months with a focus on delivering targeted health services to communities most in need.
The initiative aims to consolidate programs for intensive delivery in specific communities. It will encompass various aspects such as enhancing health screening and vaccination rates, providing mental health and emotional well-being support, conducting blood pressure and cholesterol checks, promoting health literacy, fostering social connections, offering nutritional guidance, and encouraging physical activity.
Representing The Moor, Colr. Hutton expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “This positive initiative is clearly geared towards enhancing community health and well-being by ensuring accessible support and resources.”
He emphasized the importance of improving health services for patients and enhancing preventive measures within communities. Early engagement with health teams, he noted, plays a crucial role in managing health conditions effectively.
Colr. Hutton underscored the pivotal role of community and voluntary organizations in implementing the ‘Live Better’ project, ensuring it effectively reaches those who are most in need.
“I eagerly anticipate reviewing the full details of the ‘Live Better’ initiative and commend the progress achieved thus far,” Colr. Hutton concluded.
This initiative is poised to make significant strides in improving health outcomes and fostering well-being across Northern Ireland’s communities.
