BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A community forum focusing on mental health disorders and their intersection with the local court system is scheduled to take place in Warren County later this month.
The Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts extends an invitation to community members, leaders, and stakeholders to attend this important event on July 29. The forum aims to enhance the connection between justice-involved individuals and community resources, particularly for those affected by mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders.
According to a flyer received by WBKO, the event will offer insights into the Mental Health Diversion program through the Department of Pretrial Services and the Mental Health Court through the Department of Specialty Courts. These programs provide support and alternatives to traditional incarceration for eligible individuals, emphasizing treatment and rehabilitation over punishment.
Community members are encouraged to attend the forum to better understand local resources and learn how to collaborate with treatment facilities, counseling services, housing providers, and other support networks. The goal is to foster a more supportive environment for those dealing with mental health challenges within the justice system.
The forum will be held on July 29 from 2-4 p.m. at the Warren County Justice Center, located at 1001 Center St. in Bowling Green, in Courtroom C on the fourth floor.
This event presents an opportunity for the community to engage in meaningful dialogue and contribute to the development of effective strategies for addressing mental health issues within the court system.
