Mentis, a Napa-based nonprofit dedicated to mental wellness, has embarked on a significant expansion project with the groundbreaking of its new 13,000-square-foot campus. This new facility aims to centralize and enhance the organization’s mental health services, marking a pivotal step in the future of community-based mental healthcare in Napa.
A New Era for Mental Health Services
The new campus, set to open early next year, will be located at 1272 Hayes St., the former site of Blue Oak Middle School. With the school moving to a new campus at 1461 Polk St. in downtown Napa, Mentis is poised to transform the old site into a state-of-the-art mental health and wellness center.
The facility will be significantly larger than Mentis’ current offices at 709 Franklin St., offering over 10,000 square feet more space. This expansion will allow all staff to work under one roof, thereby enhancing coordination and service delivery. Additionally, the new campus will expand bilingual programming for individuals of all ages, create wellness and art spaces for the community, and serve as a comprehensive hub for mental health resources. This includes both preventive wellness programs and mental health treatment, reflecting a holistic approach to mental health care.
Transition and Expansion
Mentis plans to vacate its current downtown offices in December, with the new campus scheduled to commence services by mid-January. The existing offices will be repurposed as a training facility for senior caregivers, ensuring that the space continues to contribute to community welfare.
Community and Leadership Support
The groundbreaking ceremony on July 2 was a momentous occasion, attended by state and local government leaders, project investors, and key community stakeholders. Prominent supporters of the project include the Napa Valley Vintners and Kaiser Permanente, whose investments underscore the community’s commitment to advancing mental health services.
Rob Weiss, executive director of Mentis, highlighted the significance of the new campus as a milestone for community-based mental healthcare. “Today’s groundbreaking is the first step in creating a community-centered healing space where people of all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances feel welcome and supported as they tend to their mental health and well-being,” Weiss stated.
Vision for the Future
The new Mentis campus represents a visionary step towards creating an inclusive, supportive environment for mental health care. By providing a centralized location for comprehensive services, the facility aims to address the diverse mental health needs of the Napa community. The expanded space will not only enhance service delivery but also foster a sense of community and belonging, encouraging individuals to seek the support they need in a welcoming and nurturing setting.
As construction progresses and the new campus takes shape, Mentis remains committed to its mission of promoting mental wellness and providing high-quality mental health services to the Napa community. This expansion is a testament to the organization’s dedication to making mental health care accessible and effective for all.
