EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has achieved full certification as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) as of June 5. This certification represents a significant milestone in the agency’s mission to deliver comprehensive and accessible mental health and substance use disorder services throughout its service area.
The CCBHC Model
The CCBHC model was developed in collaboration with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The program’s goal is to increase access to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services, particularly in underserved, rural communities.
Integrated Care Approach
CrossWinds officials emphasize that the CCBHC model focuses on integrating behavioral health with physical health care, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote overall wellness. This approach ensures that care is not confined to clinic walls. CCBHCs aim to serve individuals in their homes and communities through telehealth and mobile treatment units whenever possible. Above all, CCBHCs strive to be person- and family-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented.
Provisional Certification and Preparation
Over the past year, CrossWinds operated under provisional CCBHC certification. During this time, the agency expanded its facilities and treatment options in preparation for the full implementation of the CCBHC model. Policies and programming related to CCBHC, such as Assertive Community Treatment, Medication Assisted Therapy, outpatient substance use services, and comprehensive care coordination efforts, have already been adopted.
Future Plans
In the coming months, CrossWinds plans to complete the implementation of 24/7 Mobile Crisis service and continue to strengthen the programmatic foundations that have been established. The agency recognizes that no two treatment journeys are the same and is excited to adopt a service model that supports multiple pathways to recovery for individuals struggling with mental illness and substance use disorders.
Contact Information
This certification reflects CrossWinds’ commitment to providing holistic, accessible, and high-quality care to the communities it serves, ensuring that more individuals can receive the support they need for mental health and substance use challenges.
