STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) – Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is expanding its services to youth in the Valley with a new short-term mental health care facility. Recently approved by the Staunton City Council, this initiative allows Liberty Point to repurpose a former single-family home into a dedicated youth therapy center.
The facility, previously operated as a group home by Liberty Point, will now provide essential short-term care for adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing mental health crises. Operating hours are set for Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., focusing on helping youth reintegrate into their home and school environments post-crisis.
Staunton City Council’s approval includes specific conditions, such as limiting the facility to serving a maximum of ten youth per day. This measure ensures focused and personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs.
The unanimous passage of the ordinance underscores the community’s support for enhancing mental health services for young people in Staunton. Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare aims to provide a supportive environment where youth can receive critical care and support during challenging times.
