ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Golisano Children’s Hospital (GCH) has announced the opening of the Brighter Days Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Care Center, the first walk-in mental health clinic in the area dedicated to young people up to age 18. The center is set to open on July 15 at 300 Crittenden Blvd.
Dr. Michael Scharf, psychiatrist-in-chief at GCH, highlighted the importance of this new facility. “There are no clinics like this outside of the New York City region, and we’re thrilled that we will be able to provide this vital service for thousands of children in Western New York,” Scharf stated. “Everything we do at the clinic will be family-centered, with the goal of providing immediate and safe mental health care so that children can avoid trips to the emergency room and long wait times for outpatient services.”
The center will operate daily from noon to 7 p.m., welcoming walk-ins. It will feature 15 patient rooms and be staffed by a team of 30 caregivers, including mental health counselors, social workers, nurses, psychologists, case managers, and support staff.
The Brighter Days Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Care Center aims to address the urgent mental health needs of children in the region, offering immediate, family-centered care and reducing the strain on emergency services.
