LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) — Tellurian Behavioral Health has received a $35,000 grant from Gundersen Health System to enhance and expand its mental health services at a new crisis facility in La Crosse. The new location on Jackson Street will function as an urgent care center for individuals experiencing mental health crises, providing a critical resource for first responders and law enforcement.
The facility will feature on-site nurses and a range of mental health care professionals, aiming to deliver comprehensive care to those in need. Gundersen Health System’s support aligns with its mission to improve community mental health services, believing that backing Tellurian will significantly benefit local residents.
Tim Blumentritt, La Crosse Social Services Director for Tellurian, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among local health facilities to meet the community’s mental health needs. “We cannot work in silos to meet the needs of people in the community,” Blumentritt stated. “Building on the collaboration that we already have is going to be a vital part of all of us benefiting so that we can help more people.”
The new Jackson Street location is expected to serve over 350 individuals annually. Gundersen Health System’s contribution underscores its commitment to supporting mental health services in La Crosse, aiming to make a substantial impact on the well-being of the community.
