ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – In the wake of the recent mass shooting at a local splash pad, Oakland County is making mental health support more accessible to affected families and residents of Rochester Hills.
Starting Monday, the Family Assistance Center, initially established by Oakland County and the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN), will relocate to the Rochester Community Schools Administration Building at 52585 Dequindre Road in Rochester.
New Location and Operating Hours:
Location: Rochester Community Schools Administration Building, 52585 Dequindre Road, Rochester
Operating Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This center will provide a range of mental health services for victims, their families, and others impacted by the tragedy. As of Friday afternoon, 37 individuals have already sought assistance at the center.
Additional Support at Local Events:
Festival of the Hills: OCHN will also have a mental health resource table at the Festival of the Hills on Wednesday, June 26, at Borden Park (1400 E. Hamlin Road). This table will offer community resources, though no on-site counseling will be available during the event.
Remote Assistance:
Nurse on Call: Those unable to visit the Family Assistance Center can call Oakland County’s Nurse on Call at (800) 848-5533 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday for information on mental health resources.
Michigan Crisis and Access Line: Available 24/7 at 988 for immediate crisis support and mental health resources.
The relocation and the additional resources aim to provide the necessary support and care for those dealing with the aftermath of the violence, reinforcing the community’s commitment to mental health and well-being.
