In the wake of the shooting incident at the Juneteenth event on Saturday evening, the City of Round Rock has swiftly mobilized to provide essential mental health resources to individuals and families affected by the tragedy.
The Crisis Response Unit (CRU), an integral division within the Round Rock Fire Department established in 2022, stands at the forefront of this effort. Comprised of a dedicated team trained to administer immediate and empathetic aid during crises, CRU is equipped to handle a spectrum of situations, spanning from mental health emergencies to traumatic incidents. Their primary objective is to ensure that individuals grappling with distress receive the necessary care and support.
Annie Burwell, Program Manager of the Crisis Response Unit, underscored the significance of prioritizing mental well-being in the aftermath of such distressing events. “We encourage everyone impacted by this tragedy to recognize the importance of tending to their mental health and to avail themselves of these resources,” Burwell stated. “Together, as a community, we can offer mutual support and initiate the healing process.”
