Youngsters in Eau Claire had an opportunity to unleash their creativity and master the art of skateboarding this past Sunday.
The Skate and Create Remix event, held at Boyd Park, was designed to provide children with avenues for self-expression through music, art, and skateboarding. Members of the Eau Claire Skaters Association (ECSA) generously offered free lessons and guidance to children eager to navigate various types of wheels.
Gabe Brummett, President of ECSA, emphasized the positive impact of skateboarding on children’s mental well-being, citing its ability to instill confidence, resilience, and the important lesson of perseverance after setbacks.
“Skateboarding fosters valuable relationships and nurtures self-assurance. It serves as a holistic approach to self-care – mentally, physically, and emotionally,” noted Brummett.
ECSA will continue its efforts to promote skateboarding by hosting lessons suitable for all ages, whether kids or adults, at Boyd Park starting next weekend. While participation in these lessons is encouraged, a donation scale has been suggested.
