The Social Work Club in Vermillion has initiated a men’s health drive to support men in the community. The drive commenced on November 1 and will run until November 14.
Ellie O’Connor, the president of the Social Work Club, stated that the club recognized a need in Vermillion and decided to address it. Men’s Health Awareness Month falls in November, making it an opportune time to focus on this important issue. The club collaborated with United Way, a citizen-run organization in Vermillion, to ensure that all donations received will be directed to United Way.
United Way is known for its community-driven approach, providing essential services to address the specific needs of the community. This partnership marks the first time the Social Work Club has worked with United Way.
O’Connor explained that United Way operates a food pantry, conducts clothing drives, and adapts its services to meet the changing needs of the community. If the community requires access to affordable food, United Way steps in to fulfill that need.
Following the conclusion of the drive, the collected items will be tallied and delivered to United Way for distribution within the Vermillion community.
The Social Work Club encourages everyone to contribute to the drive. Donation boxes are conveniently located at various spots, including the North Complex, Hy-Vee, Vermilion Public Library, Austin Elementary, and the Civic Center. Desired items for donation include clothing, brushes, socks, razors, and toothbrushes. This initiative aims to make a positive impact on men’s health and well-being in Vermillion.
