The Black Dog Institute has developed a new app called “Shift” aimed at providing mental health support for doctors in training. The app is designed based on recognized, evidence-based psychological approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and stress management. It offers therapeutic, psychoeducational content and strategies specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of doctors in training.
Initial testing of the Shift app has yielded positive results, and it is now being refined in preparation for a nationwide randomized controlled trial. This trial is expected to be the largest of its kind for doctors in training and will serve as an important intervention to address their mental health needs.
Doctors in training across Australia can register to participate in this trial, and the app is poised to become a valuable resource for their mental health and well-being.
