Boise State Athletics has introduced a mental health training program, Be There, aimed at promoting mental health literacy and providing the skills and confidence needed to support individuals struggling with mental health issues. The training, which was offered to all student-athletes, provides real-life examples of how to be more compassionate, helpful, and effective listeners.
The training program is part of Boise State Athletics’ efforts to support student-athletes in addressing stress and promoting mental well-being. It complements the work of BroncoBOLD, a mental health initiative launched in 2019, which focuses on mental health education, proactive prevention, and spreading a message of hope, help, and resilience.
Be There was developed by Jack.org in partnership with Born This Way Foundation and includes the “5 Golden Rules” framework to help recognize when someone may be struggling with mental health and how to provide support and connect them with available help.
By providing mental health training and resources, Boise State Athletics is working to empower student-athletes and create a supportive environment for their mental well-being.
