A four-day cross-state running event known as Project 437 has concluded its journey in Sioux Falls, with the primary aim of raising awareness and funds for mental health challenges. This initiative involved a relay race spanning the length of the state, with 12 dedicated runners embarking on the journey from the Wyoming border on Thursday and arriving at the Levitt Band Shell on Sunday afternoon.
Runner Benson Langat expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s event, emphasizing the profound impact of the stories they heard along the way. He stated that his personal goal was to run in memory of those who lost their lives to suicide, highlighting the significance of asking the question about mental health and well-being.
Project 437 successfully raised over $250,000 for the Helpline Center, an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals who have lost family members or friends to suicide. These funds will help connect them with valuable resources and support groups offered by the Helpline Center, ultimately contributing to better mental health and emotional well-being in the community.
