Therapeutic Medical and Psychiatric Services made significant strides in promoting mental health awareness by hosting its inaugural mental health fair in Monroe on Saturday. The event drew multiple vendors from across the region, all dedicated to raising awareness and offering support to the community.
The participating vendors represented a diverse range of services, including substance abuse counseling, mental health diagnosis, and sex trafficking awareness initiatives.
Nurse practitioner Diane Davis highlighted the critical need for mental health education within the community. She emphasized that mental health providers and therapists are in limited supply, and there is a pressing demand for their services. “We don’t have enough mental health teaching in our community,” Davis noted. “Mental health providers are limited, therapists are limited, and so many people need our services.”
The event served as a vital platform to bridge this gap in mental health resources, connecting individuals and families with the help they require.
Therapeutic Medical took the opportunity to remind the community that if they or their loved ones are grappling with thoughts of mental illness, immediate assistance is available through the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988. The fair’s organizers are committed to ensuring that no one faces mental health challenges alone and that support is accessible to all who need it.
