In a recent survey involving over 2,000 Australian educators, teachers have voiced their concerns, highlighting poor mental health and excessive screen time as the foremost challenges affecting young individuals.
Alanah, a year 11 student at Braemar College, has been attuned to the growing stress and anxiety amongst her peers, who grapple with mounting pressures from various sources, including their home environments.
“I’ve noticed more frequent instances of people feeling upset at school,” she conveyed to the ABC. “People tend to go on anxious rants, and I’ve witnessed some individuals shedding tears in particularly distressing situations.”
Alanah’s observations have been substantiated by the findings of a nationwide teacher survey, which underscores that a significant majority of educators perceive poor mental health as the preeminent issue currently confronting young people.
