Paradigm has introduced a new mental health and wellbeing hub, specifically designed to provide resources and support tools for intermediaries and firms within the mortgage industry. The hub aims to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of employees by offering guidance on managing stress, supporting mental health in the workplace, and providing information on critical issues such as suicide prevention.
The platform offers practical advice for employers on how to support their teams’ mental health and wellbeing, as well as details on the role of mental health first aiders. It also emphasizes the importance of mental health training, helping firms to better equip their staff with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and assist colleagues who may be struggling. Additionally, the hub includes a comprehensive mental health and wellbeing calendar that highlights key dates throughout the year, promoting awareness and encouraging ongoing conversations about mental health.
Riona Mulherin, Director of Marketing and Operations at Paradigm, commented on the initiative by referencing last year’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Report from the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter. The report revealed concerning trends, including a rise in the number of mortgage industry professionals reporting poor mental health and a notable increase in the number of employees working over 45 hours a week. These findings painted a worrying picture of mental health in the industry, indicating that many workers’ mental health was in much worse condition than it should be.
Mulherin explained, “To that end, we’ve launched our new hub. It’s designed to bring together a raft of useful resources and support tools that can help move us all along a more positive path, whether you are seeking to establish preventative measures within your business or are looking to support someone who may already be struggling.”
With the mental health of many employees in the mortgage industry in need of support, the new hub seeks to foster a proactive approach, helping employers take steps to protect and improve the mental wellbeing of their staff.
