Albright School in Tipton has earned widespread acclaim for its commitment to providing exceptional education and support for students with special needs. Recently, the school achieved an “outstanding” rating in all areas by Ofsted, with many parents describing the school as “transformational” for their children’s educational journeys.
In addition to its prestigious Ofsted rating, Albright School was awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark and recognized as a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion, an honor given just two weeks after its inspection in October 2024. These accolades further underscore the school’s dedication to meeting the needs of students with diverse learning and emotional health requirements.
Leadership and Commitment Recognized
Executive Head Teacher Kate Hazelwood expressed immense pride in the recognition, stating, “I am incredibly proud that the hard work and tireless commitment of the whole Albright Team has been recognised. It is a privilege to lead such a unique and special school.”
Community Support and Local Praise
Councillor Jalal Uddin, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, congratulated the school for its outstanding achievements. “I want to congratulate everyone at Albright for this wonderful achievement. I would also like to thank our local authority school improvement officers who work alongside maintained schools and support them to reach our aim of every Sandwell child attending a good or outstanding school.”
Expansion and Growth
Albright School has also undergone significant expansion, now serving students from Reception through to Post-16 across two sites in Tipton and West Bromwich, catering to the entire Sandwell borough. Additionally, the school has extended its provision to the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, transitioning services from Sandwell Hospital to further support local children with special educational needs.
Looking to the Future
Both Kate Hazelwood and Rachel Kelly, Head Teacher of Albright, are enthusiastic about the school’s future, especially as it continues to grow in response to the increasing demand for specialized education in the region.
With its outstanding Ofsted rating, Inclusion Quality Mark, and its focus on mental health support, Albright School stands as a leader in special education, creating a nurturing, inclusive, and transformative environment for students facing significant challenges.
