Cerebral, a leading online mental health care provider, has announced a strategic partnership with the San Antonio Spurs to expand access to high-quality mental health services across Texas. This collaboration leverages the shared commitment of both organizations to advocating for mental health and aims to make mental health care more accessible, affordable, and widely available to communities throughout the state.
Recent data from the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) reveals that 30% of adults in Texas who reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression since 2022 sought counseling or therapy but did not receive it. This partnership aims to address this gap by breaking down barriers to mental health care and providing convenient, insurance-covered support for Texans from all walks of life.
A Shared Mission to Prioritize Mental Health
“Cerebral’s mission has always been to break down barriers to mental health care and ensure that every individual has access to the high-quality support they need,” said Brian Reinken, President of Cerebral. “Together, with the San Antonio Spurs, we’re not just creating opportunities for communities across Texas – we’re creating a culture where mental health is prioritized, understood, and supported at every level.”
Cerebral’s innovative model of mental health care goes beyond traditional approaches by providing dynamic, personalized care through telehealth. With partnerships with major insurers such as BlueCross, Cigna, and UnitedHealth, Cerebral ensures accessibility to a broad population. As of March 2024, at least 72% of Cerebral clients with moderate to severe anxiety and/or depression reported feeling better within 12 weeks of starting their treatment.
Raising Awareness and Advocating for Mental Health
The partnership between Cerebral and the San Antonio Spurs also includes raising awareness about the importance of mental health in both the sports world and everyday life. As part of the collaboration, Cerebral will feature its branding at Spurs home games and host a mental health workshop for the Spurs Community Leadership Institute. This initiative will provide a curated curriculum, expert panels, and group collaboration aimed at empowering local leaders to address mental health in their communities.
“We believe in taking a holistic approach to health, in both mind and body, and want to support our community in accessing affordable and convenient mental healthcare,” said Frank Miceli, Chief Commercial Officer for Spurs Sports & Entertainment. “We admire the work Cerebral has done to expand access for all.”
