STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For those looking for guidance, support, and a deeper understanding of mental health, the Staten Island chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has announced the offering of free Family to Family classes for 2025.
These weekly classes aim to provide valuable tools and resources for individuals seeking to better manage the challenges associated with mental health conditions, both for themselves and their loved ones.
Course Overview
The Family to Family classes are designed to teach participants essential skills and provide insights on topics such as:
- Problem-solving and effective communication
- Self-care practices and stress management
- How to handle a mental health crisis
Additionally, participants will receive up-to-date information on various mental health conditions and learn how these conditions impact the brain. More importantly, they will be equipped with strategies to support loved ones with compassion, ensuring that caregivers and family members feel more prepared and confident in their roles.

Two separate classes will be offered, each lasting eight weeks:
Class 1
- Start Date: Monday, January 27, 2025
- Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Location: 930 Willowbrook Rd., Willowbrook, Building 41 A
Class 2
- Start Date: Wednesday, January 29, 2025
- Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Location: 634 Clove Rd., West Brighton
