HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The Hudson County Board of Commissioners has approved a $916,669 allocation to support youth mental health programs and enrichment initiatives across the region. The funding, secured through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, will be distributed to various organizations for one year to address the mental health challenges faced by children and young people, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The approved grants will benefit a range of local providers focused on mental health support and enrichment programs. These include Hopes Community Action Partnership, Inc., Prevention Links, Smart Choice Solutions, Team Wilderness, CarePoint Health Systems, and Kismet of Kings.
“This funding is an essential step in addressing the mental health needs of our youth, who have been profoundly impacted by the pandemic,” said a spokesperson for the Hudson County Board of Commissioners. “By supporting these organizations, we are helping to provide critical services that promote mental and emotional well-being, ensuring that young people in our communities have access to the support they need.”
The grants will enable these organizations to expand their outreach and provide much-needed services to children and families throughout Hudson County, helping mitigate the long-term mental health effects of the pandemic. The county’s initiative highlights the ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and fostering healthier communities.
