Rula Health has announced a partnership with Amazon Health Services to provide Amazon customers with enhanced access to mental health support. Through this collaboration, Rula’s extensive network of more than 10,000 mental health professionals will be available to users of Amazon’s Health Conditions Programs.
Rula, a digital health provider, specializes in connecting patients to mental healthcare professionals, offering support at every stage of the mental health journey. The platform’s network spans 80 clinical specialties across all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. With this new partnership, Amazon aims to make it easier for its customers to access mental health services as part of its broader Health Conditions Programs.
A New Avenue for Mental Health Support
Amazon’s Health Conditions Programs, launched in January 2024, enables individuals to access digital health tools through their employer or insurance carrier, supporting the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and prediabetes. The addition of Rula Health’s mental health network significantly expands the program’s scope to include mental healthcare.
As part of the partnership, Amazon customers will be able to search for mental health services by entering keywords such as “stress relief” or “anxiety relief” and find providers who accept their insurance. Rula’s system also features an advanced matching algorithm that quickly connects patients with the most suitable providers, often within minutes, and offers the possibility of scheduling appointments as soon as the following day. In addition, Rula provides 24/7 crisis support for individuals in urgent need.
“Rula’s ability to match patients with the right provider based on factors such as language, race, cultural background, and specific treatment approaches is a game-changer in expanding access to mental health services,” said the company in a statement. The goal is to make it easier for individuals to access the care they need, when they need it, with just a few clicks.
Building on Amazon’s Health Services Strategy
This partnership is part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to enhance its digital health offerings. Amazon’s Health Conditions Programs began in January 2024 with the addition of Omada Health, a chronic condition management platform. In 2022, Omada expanded its services to include behavioral health support for individuals managing chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and musculoskeletal disorders. The program now includes anxiety and depression assessments, along with resources to manage social determinants of health such as food access, stress management, and sleep tools.
Omada’s expansion into behavioral health was supported by a $192 million Series E funding round, bringing its total fundraising to over $256 million. The round was led by Fidelity Management and Research Company, with participation from Civilization Ventures, Perceptive Advisors, aMoon, and Wellington Management.
The Growing Need for Accessible Mental Health Services
The collaboration between Rula and Amazon is timely, as mental health care continues to be a growing concern in the U.S. The pandemic, coupled with increasing awareness of mental health issues, has prompted a surge in demand for accessible mental health services. Digital platforms, like Rula’s, offer an important solution by removing barriers such as long wait times and geographic limitations, allowing individuals to receive care in a way that suits their schedules and personal needs.
Through this partnership, Amazon and Rula Health are helping to reduce the stigma around mental health by making it easier for people to seek support and take steps toward better mental wellbeing.
