Philanthropist and community leader Chana Chiesa has initiated a new campaign dedicated to raising awareness and support for mental health services in underserved communities. With a strong commitment to reducing stigma around mental health, Chiesa’s initiative aims to provide crucial resources and build a supportive environment for individuals confronting mental health challenges.
“Each year, over one in five adults in the U.S. experience mental illness, yet many lack access to essential resources,” Chiesa explains. “Mental health is as critical as physical health, and it’s time we start treating it with equal priority.” Her campaign focuses on addressing gaps in mental health care, particularly for youth and marginalized communities who frequently encounter obstacles to receiving treatment.
Chiesa’s efforts highlight that mental health issues do not discriminate, impacting individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. She points to statistics showing that 60% of youth with depression go untreated as evidence of the urgent need for action. “These numbers are staggering,” she says, “and they underscore why we need to make support accessible and affordable for everyone.”
The campaign will include a series of community-centered events, workshops, and fundraising initiatives, all designed to foster mental wellness and equip those in need with valuable resources. By collaborating with local nonprofits, schools, and healthcare organizations, Chiesa aims to establish a network of services offering counseling, educational resources, and outreach programs. “We’re not going to solve this issue overnight,” she acknowledges, “but by uniting as a community, we can create a network that uplifts and supports each other.”
Chiesa’s dedication to mental health advocacy is rooted in her personal experiences with the issue. “I’ve witnessed firsthand how mental health struggles can impact individuals and families,” she shares. “It’s a journey no one should face alone, and that’s why I’m determined to make a difference.”
Funds raised through Chiesa’s campaign will be channeled into organizations that provide mental health services, including counseling, crisis intervention, and support groups. “Every dollar counts,” Chiesa emphasizes. “Whether it’s enabling a child to access a therapist or sponsoring a community mental health workshop, each contribution brings us closer to meaningful change.”
She encourages the public to engage by attending events, making donations, or simply spreading awareness about mental health’s importance. “Together, we can build a world where no one feels isolated in their struggle,” Chiesa says, underscoring her vision of a more inclusive and compassionate approach to mental health care.
