The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced on January 7 that it will award $1 million in grants to 15 participants, including 14 states and Washington, D.C., for involvement in the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Medicaid Demonstration Program. The initiative aims to provide sustainable funding to expand access to essential mental health and substance use services across the nation.
The newly selected participants include the states of Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia.
Under the program, participants are required to ensure that individuals have access to a comprehensive suite of services that includes care coordination, evidence-based practices, and community-specific support. This includes critical 24/7 crisis services, all designed to meet the unique needs identified through community assessments.
SAMHSA’s funding initiative is designed to enhance the delivery of behavioral health services by strengthening care coordination and broadening the scope of available support, ultimately improving mental health and substance use treatment outcomes nationwide.
