COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — El Paso County Health leaders have unveiled a groundbreaking digital platform designed to streamline access to mental health care for residents. Named ‘Pikes Peak Rising,’ this innovative resource center is accessible via cellphones, tablets, and computers, providing round-the-clock support.
Pikes Peak Rising offers a comprehensive one-stop shop for mental health resources. The platform allows users to take mental health assessments to identify the type of assistance they may need. It covers over 200 topics, including stress, anxiety, depression, and work burnout, enabling users to request information without fear of judgment or embarrassment.
“For example, I took an assessment and purposely scored poorly to test the system. The platform immediately suggested dialing 988 or 911 in a crisis. There is also a ‘Help Now’ page with crisis and local emergency information,” said Maggie Youkhana, Health Behavioral Health Planner for the El Paso County Health Department.
While the platform does not diagnose conditions or prescribe medication, it directs users to appropriate help resources, encouraging open conversations about mental health. Health leaders hope this tool will reduce the stigma around mental health issues and motivate individuals to seek necessary support.
